Diet soda-Is there a down-side?

Making diet soda your regular beverage may increase your risk of stroke and heart attacks.  People who drink diet soda daily have a 50% increased risk of a "vascular event" like a stroke or heart attack.  The theory is that those who drink diet soda may assume they can engage in other less healthy behavior because they "compensate" with this zero calorie drink.
